Dacă New York Fashion Week ne-a dat deja câteva indicii că hainele de birou vor conta din nou în primăvara lui 2027, Londra pare hotărâtă să continue conversația. Paul Costelloe a deschis London Fashion Week cu sacouri cu umeri puternici, pantaloni largi, cămăși masculine, dungi și mult bleumarin, dar imaginea finală este departe de clasica uniformă corporatistă. Costumul devine mai fluid, cămașa se descheie, sacoul lasă pielea la vedere, iar piesele care altădată vorbeau aproape exclusiv despre autoritate capătă o feminitate mult mai relaxată.

Colecția Spring/Summer 2027 este a doua semnată de William Costelloe în calitate de director de creație al casei, după moartea tatălui său, Paul Costelloe, în 2025. Pentru acest sezon, designerul s-a întors spre anii ’80 și spre una dintre cele mai importante legături din istoria brandului: garderoba Prințesei Diana, pentru care Paul Costelloe a devenit designer personal în 1983. Umerii accentuați, fundele supradimensionate, nasturii aurii și eșarfele de mătase trimit spre acea perioadă, însă William nu încearcă să o reproducă fidel. Ce rezultă este mult mai interesant decât un simplu exercițiu de nostalgie: o încercare de a vedea cum arată astăzi femeia pentru care costumul nu mai este o armură.

After making his debut as Creative Director in February, following the death of his father, Paul, last year, William returned to kick off London Fashion Week with a spring/summer 2027 collection that reached back to one of the house’s most recognisable eras: the Eighties.

It was perhaps inevitable territory. Paul Costelloe was appointed personal designer to Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1983, beginning a working relationship that continued until her death in 1997. The broad shoulders, pussy bows and big-buttoned tailoring of the period remain closely entwined with the Costelloe name.

But if William’s February debut was inevitably about proving the house could continue without its founder, his second outing appeared familiar, but slightly filtered through his own eye.

William returned to his father’s Eighties accents liberally, flooding the runway with exaggerated shoulders, pussy-bow shirts and silk headscarves, alongside modern touches such as oversized clutches and a nautical navy-and-white palette.
